Boston Performance Training

Get ready to perform in Boston on April 20, 2020, with this group training program that provides a personally customized training plan specifically designed around your goal, paces, and mileage for Boston. If you are a Boston qualifier or hope to chase one in spring 2020, this program is for you. You will also enjoy unique amenities from CARA in Boston on marathon weekend. 

A virtual training option is also available.

Program Benefits:

  • Personally Customized Training Plan: CARA Director of Training Coach Tim Bradley provides a personally customized 15-week training plan and coaching support based on your Boston goal, your mileage, and your paces/goal time. This unique training plan is specific and personalized for you.

  • Group Training: Group long runs and speed training. Gain support, security, and camaraderie with the support of a group!

  • Location: Opportunities to train at locations with hilly and scenic terrain. Participants may run at any of the program locations through the plan.

  • Boston Bus: Included is a private charter bus from the Boston Park Plaza to the Athlete's Village in Hopkinton on race morning where you may remain in a climate controlled bus until time to go to your start wave. Note: The Boston buses are school buses, that drop you off immediately outdoors prior to the start.

    • Boston Gear Check: Included is VIP gear check at the Athlete's Village charter bus with CARA, who will bring your bag back to the Boston Park Plaza.

    • Boston Hotel Block: Training program runners will have first access to CARA's limited hotel blocks at the Boston Park Plaza and InterContinental Boston.

    • Pre-Race Dinner: Access to join CARA for a pre-race pre-race dinner in Boston. Training program runners will get first access for themselves and their families.

    • Post-Race Social: We will meet up post-race in Boston to celebrate our races at a local venue!

*Terms / Details:

  • CARA member discount of 10% applies to active CARA Supporter Level members (Individual, Family, and Student packages). 

  • Registrations options WITHOUT "Boston amenities" do not include Boston Bus, Boston hotel block access, or any other in-Boston opportunities. This registration type is geared towards runners who have not yet qualified for Boston but would like to train with BQ runners and receive a BQ focused training program focused on a late April/early May marathon goal.

  • Fees are not prorated for late entry to the program.

  • CARA Boston hotel room block is available until full. Rooms will be available first-come, first serve (rooms are currently available). Participants may reserve only one room.

  • Registration WITH Boston Amenities includes Boston Bus ticket (guaranteed) and access to Boston Hotel block (until full). Boston dinner costs not included. Boston social is a free gathering, but attendees purchase their own food/drinks from the venue.

  • Refunds: No refunds will not be issued for any reason.

  • Credits / Deferrals: Participants may withdraw from the program prior to whichever comes first: receiving the hotel block information, receiving customized training program, picking up training program packet or prior to the first day of training (Monday, week of first group session) for any reasons and receive a credit to any CARA program or event of equal or lesser value. Credit expires at the end of the next calendar year. Complete terms and conditions will be provided upon request.

  • No speed training session will be held on Wednesday's 12/25 and 1/1 due to the holidays.

  • Barrington long run dates TBA. Barrington long runs provide an additional long run venue with hilly terrain.

  • Program registration does not include entrance fee to Morton Arboretum in Lisle. CARA is subsidizing the cost of Morton Arboretum "Morton 1" annual passes for training program runners. Option to purchase Morton pass will be available prior to program start.

  • Program registration does not include entry or registration fees for the marathon race.

  • Program registrations by non-members includes a CARA Friend level membership. Participants can upgrade to CARA Supporter Level membership within form and instantly receive program discount and all Supporter Level member benefits.

Indoor Space:

  • Group long runs in Chicago will gather at Amita Health St. Joseph Hospital Chicago.  If you arrive prior to 7:20 a.m., you may gather in the Cafe (to the left through Location “1”). If you are in the cafe, at 7:20 a.m. please depart for the Medical Office Building Patio for the run start. If you arrive after 7:20 a.m., please go directly to the patio. Post-run, you are welcome to finish up and gather at the Cafe. 

  • Group long runs in Lisle will have access to indoor restrooms at Morton Arboretum.
