CARA Tour of Ireland

 

Coach Pat Savage, a longtime member and past CARA president, is ready to take the running community to Ireland for one his "Savage Running Tours". The group will spend 11 days / 10 nights in Swords and Limerick, Ireland. The trip includes tours and an opportunity to run in the Swords 10K.

  • Dates: July 19 - 29, 2018
  • Destination: Swords, Ireland and Limerick, Ireland
  • Cost: PAY DEPOSIT
    • By December 20, 2017: $2,230 (Deposit $230)
    • After December 20, 2017: 2,350 (Deposit $350)
  • Includes: Direct airfare from Chicago (Aer Lingus), Accommodations, and Charter Bus
  • Accommodations: 
    • July 19 - 22: Bed and Breakfast in Swords
    • July 23 - 29: Adare Villas at Adare Castle in Limerick

    • Note: A second option may be added for the final weekend of the trip.
    • Runs: A group fun run will be held each morning of the trip.

DEPART from ORD - Direct non-stop flight on Aer Lingus to Dublin (Evening)

Melissa & Paddy Savage will meet everyone at the airport - Travel to Swords.

 

Public Bus to Dublin.  Pound Pub at 5:00.  Dinner at the Well at 6:30 PM

 

Swords Festival - Activities and music on the street and in the castle

 10:00 AM

Dublin (Swords) - Board Dublin Bus for Dublin Town

 

Tour around Dublin with Paddy - Dinner on your own.

Pick up Swords 10K race packets on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Meet at the Pound Pub after your race (Those not racing - meet there too)

Leave for Adare Castle - Meet the bus on Rathbealle Road

 

Stop and Tour at the Rock of Cashel - Lunch in town on your own.

Details:

  • Trip cost is $2,230 (Deduct $930 if you wish to secure your own airfare) if a deposit is paid by December 20, 2017. After that date, the cost increases to $2,350.

  • Price is based on Double Occupancy. Single occupancy adds $100.

  • A refundable deposit of $230 is due by December 20, 2017, to reserve a space on the trip. Participants may cancel any time until December 20, 2017, and receive a refund. After December 20, 2017, a deposit of $350 is required.

  • A maximum of 30 persons will be allowed to register for the trip. Space held at the time of deposit. 

  • On February 15, 2018, the second payment of $1,000 will be due.

  • A final full payment of participants remaining balance will be required no later than March 16, 2016

  • Make checks payable to Chicago Area Runners Association or pay by credit card HERE (credit card fees apply). Send checks to CARA, 549 W. Randolph St, Suite 704, Chicago, IL 60661. Please contact Pat Savage prior to deposit to check on space availability.

  • Participants will be responsible for their own meals. Breakfast will be provided at Swords Bed and Breakfast.

  • Participants will have the opportunity to buy food and drink at a Tesco for the stay at the Adare Castle Villa.

  • Each participant is asked to buy (at Duty-Free) one (or two) bottles of an adult beverage to share with the group on the tour if they wish to partake.

  • Fees for Rock of Cashel, Cliffs of Moher, Cobh Museum, and Middleton Distillery are included with the tour. Participants will be responsible for any fees to get into other visitor sites but Coach Savage will effort to obtain group discounts. Fees for the Swords 10K are not included in the price of the tour. Participants may extend their stay at their own expense.

  • Participants must be 18 & over to be part of the tour without a parent or guardian. Children attending with parents/guardians must be 13 years or older.
