CARA Awards Party Recap: Race Of The Year

Held annually, the CARA Awards Party celebrates the achievements of our Chicagoland running community and recognizes CARA Runners’ Choice Circuit top performers, CARA Hall of Fame inductees, and Lifetime Achievement Award inductees. In the final feature of this series, we would like to highlight our 2019 Race of the Year!

CARA was delighted to award Race of the Year for the sixth time to The Good Life Race 5k, hosted by Oak Park Runners Club. This local race had won Race of the Year honors previously in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

The Good Life Race takes a unique approach to the typical 5k, offering separate men’s and women’s 5ks, as well as mother-daughter and father-son competitions, a one-mile youth race, a 5k fitness walk, and a junior dash. In addition to traditional prize money for age group and special category winners, the race also gives out prize money for anyone who sets a new course record. As an added bonus, The Good Life Race is a completely zero-waste event.

The Good Life Race will be returning on the 2020 CARA Runners’ Choice Circuit, along with many other great races!
